ABSTRACT
This work aims to create a space for reflection on the different approaches which address the teaching of Preterit and Imperfect tenses in the manuals of Spanish as a Foreign Language. We will revise analytical proposals and formalist grammars mainly traditional, prescriptive or descriptive ones and we will discuss the possible implications that the use of these grammars has for the learner. Furthermore, we will present and assess the validity of the implementation of a discursive grammar directed towards encouraging the learner's ability to understand the operation of the aforementioned verbal tenses, from their integration as a textual typology organized by degree of difficulty.
